Engine
First thing you will need to do is to upgrade your engine. While you may have a nice two litre engine, (which is quite large), your new rally car engine needs to have many upgraded to components to make it capable of dealing with the punishment you will be dishing out. This will mean adding upgrade spark plugs, alternator and radiator as well as maybe adding a turbo to get you moving that little bit quicker.
Bodywork
Next thing to address is the body work. The lighter the better is the name of the game so that you can get maximum power from the engine, so you need to replace most of your factory parts with carbon fibre parts. Aerodynamics will need to be considered too, so adding a spoiler is advisable.
Tyres and Suspension
To make sure you have the best chance of staying on the road, you will need to also fit extremely good suspension, as especially when rallying, being able to soak up all the lumps and bumps in the road is crucial. You may however be able to find good quality racing tyres at your local tyre shop as people like to buy them for their road cars even if they don’t plan to go rallying.
Driving Skill
Lastly, no matter how well equipped you make your car you will struggle to get round the first bend without a bit of driving skill.
